Growing up in the village of Barstow, California, young Andrew dreams of going to university; but he is divided. He and his mother, Sandra, are very devoted to each other. He takes care of Sandra, who is a single mother, with a strong sense of responsibility. When he meets Jenny, he discovers reasons to stay in town, but his bond with his mother begins to wear off. Andrew realizes that he has to chose between staying with people who need him and starting his own life elsewhere.
Peter Paige started work on Leaving Barstow after directing his first film, Say Uncle (2005). He is also an actor, with much experience in the theater and television. He is better known for his role as Emmett Honeycutt in the television series Queer as Folk. He participated in other television series such as Grey’s Anatomy, Without a Trace, and Will & Grace.
