LE SILENCE DE LORNA

Wanting to become a partner of a snack bar with her boyfriend, Lorna, an Albanese young woman who lives in Belgium, becomes involved in a plan by Fabio, who is from the Mafia. He plans an arranged marriage between Loma and one of his bullies, Claudy, so that Lorna may have Belgium citizenship. A member from the Russian Mafia is also willing to pay a lot for Belgian citizenship. For this second marriage to become possible, Fabio plans to kill Claudy. But will Lorna keep the secret?

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR
Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne are brothers, Belgian, and always write their films together. Jean-Pierre was born in 1951, in Engis, and Luc was born in Awirs, in 1954. In 1975 they opened a production company, Derives, which has produced about 60 documentaries, including their own. In 1994, they created the production company Les Films Du Fleuve. They have directed documentaries and shorts, and the fiction films Falsch (1987), Je pense à vous (1992), La Promesse (1996), Rosetta (Palme d’Or in Cannes, in 1999), Le Fils (2002), and L’Enfant (Palme d’Or in Cannes, in 2005). Their last film, Le Silence de Lorna, won the Best Script Award in the Cannes Film Festival (2008).
